The Desolation Process began as the personal project of founding member Mathieu Vanlandtschoote, who spent years shaping its concept, writing the music, and searching for the right musicians to bring it to life. What started as an isolated creative act—born from loss, reflection, and purpose—has now emerged from the depths as a full band ready to step into the light.
The Desolation Process is a five-piece band from Belgium blending elements of sludge, doom, and black metal into something heavy, slow, and deeply emotional. Formed from members of Thurisaz, Stories From the Lost, Kauna, and Growing Horns, the group creates music that feels less like songs and more like a descent — a slow unraveling through loss, decay, and silence.
Their sound moves between crushing riffs, haunting melodies, and vocals that shift from desperate screams to broken whispers. Every track carries the weight of isolation and the quiet violence of grief. Live, the band performs in dim light and thick smoke, surrounded by rusted chains — more ritual than show.
This is not music meant to comfort. It gives shape to what’s left when everything else is gone.
[Vanlandtschoote Mathieu] – Vocals
[De Loor Glenn] – Guitar
[Theuwen Mattias] – Guitar
[Vekeman Wim] – Bass
[De Raeymaecker Pepijn] – Drums
