Austin-based psych outfit the Echocentrics is the project of Grammy-winning producer and musician <a href="spotify:artist:07YivsJVCrmhhjzBcBtMGv">Adrian Quesada</a>, whose Latin-flavored rock and funk have also been heard in his other bands, <a href="spotify:artist:1EJ0KSMkpoQJHChu5AyTHE">Grupo Fantasma</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:75ITBSKqlC5hlS4PZ2XP1S">Brownout</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:4khzV3qBWcUKdc50QOv8Tc">Ocote Soul Sounds</a>. Inspired by his love for '60s and '70s Latin funk and soul, <a href="spotify:artist:07YivsJVCrmhhjzBcBtMGv">Quesada</a> began developing a set of psych-leaning tracks that were shared with Argentinian singer <a href="spotify:artist:5eNBCrl6JL8r6QKkQu733b">Natalia Clavier</a> and Brazilian singer <a href="spotify:artist:3g2DhcTYLPimsEwiPLQyoy">Tita Lima</a>. This long distance multi-cultural collaboration resulted in 2011's Sunshadows album, which blended a distinctly Texan approach with cinematic Latin funk. <a href="spotify:artist:07YivsJVCrmhhjzBcBtMGv">Quesada</a>'s follow-up, Echo Hotel, arrived in 2016 and was again augmented vocal contributions from both Clavier and <a href="spotify:artist:3g2DhcTYLPimsEwiPLQyoy">Lima</a>n as well as fellow Austinites James Petralli (<a href="spotify:artist:0RdRumkn2UydUjqytNJ2Cp">White Denim</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:6zUOCdZl6bwhPde0zG1c1s">Bop English</a>) and <a href="spotify:artist:0dBNMuLxOUm6BEU0IiD5Fe">Alex Maas</a> (<a href="spotify:artist:0VNWuGf8SMVU2AerpdhMbP">the Black Angels</a>). ~ Timothy Monger, Rovi
