Formed in Phoenix, Arizona in 2009 The Father Figures play a style of tightly coiled, angular post punk they sometimes call post post skaterock. The band came together when drummer Bobby Lerma invited bass player Tom Reardon and guitarist Michael Cornelius for a casual jam session. Finding that they had a lot of musical energy in common the casual jam led to playing out within 6 weeks.
In 2011 they released “Lesson Number One” on AZPX records which, in addition to material they wrote together, had a couple of songs that predated the collaboration.
By 2013 when they released “All About Everything” their sound had fully integrated the collaborative writing style the band continues to use.
“Steps and Processes” released in 2015 was the band’s last effort on AZPX records. After recording the tracks for 2017’s “Heavy Lifting” the band moved to Slope Records for their first vinyl full-length album.
“How Did We Get Here” released in 2019 marks the band first decade together with an anthology of 22 of their set staples.
