Founded in Falmouth, Cornwall in 2013 by songwriter and producer Benjamin Woods, The Golden Dregs released two albums in quick succession, Lafayette (2018) and Hope Is For The Hopeless (2019), before returning with On Grace & Dignity in 2023. Where the second album plunged deep into personal pain, On Grace & Dignity looked outward, exploring home and how a place—specifically Truro, Cornwall’s capital—shapes a person.
Now based in South London and performing as a six-piece band, The Golden Dregs followed up with popular music vol.1, a digital-only 3-track EP reimagining songs by Billie Eilish, Lana Del Rey, and Caroline Polachek. Their latest album, Godspeed, arrives in April 2025. Written against the backdrop of an uneasy London, it grapples with themes of stasis and adventure, existential dread and reckless abandon. Pairing Woods’ rich baritone with the group’s signature harmonies and atmospheric arrangements, Godspeed is their most expansive and collaborative record yet.
