The Great Park

Stephen Burch is an English songwriter making music as The Great Park. He's currently based in Germany.

Stephen spent his childhood moving around England and Wales before settling in Ireland for some time, where he began making music whilst working on large oil paintings. Returning to the south of England and the seaside town of Brighton, Stephen played in the lo-fi London based band Blanket with Vicky Steer. He soon founded the Woodland Recordings DIY label with Laurence Collyer of <a href="spotify:artist:77vXdGdqGziGmyDaDR2BWO" data-name="The Diamond Family Archive">The Diamond Family Archive</a> and together they would organise concerts and release a wide range of home recorded music by many artists, including <a href="spotify:artist:6TTJ0xLPPNDyv4bXyukzU4" data-name="Sam Amidon">Sam Amidon</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:4MdQ9btIlh6rzIMA19tu3L" data-name="Joanne Robertson">Joanne Robertson</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:3Lq2kAgslu7xI6S6EZDxPL" data-name="Birdengine">Birdengine</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:55o14KDbF8VAbUm7QYqIcd" data-name="Pablo Und Destruktion">Pablo Und Destruktion</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:4vzdEKcKww5wEGVl9TMk8s" data-name="Fee Reega">Fee Reega</a> and dozens of others.

Stephen is a prolific songwriter, with around 20 releases since 2007 and hundreds of concerts played. He&#39;s provided music for several films and his songs have been covered by <a href="spotify:artist:24uYyG1E9EGfq2dcsUmKsO" data-name="Liz Green">Liz Green</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:4vzdEKcKww5wEGVl9TMk8s" data-name="Fee Reega">Fee Reega</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:6EokueUn3GuFT3eXNqKT2Y" data-name="Kristin McClement">Kristin McClement</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:44i0qgYHCHOBmsz0R10ENI" data-name="Squalloscope">Squalloscope</a>, Aaron Dall, <a href="spotify:artist:2Ojrvs4pDQDO1W3lAVRrnL" data-name="Sons of Noel and Adrian">Sons of Noel and Adrian</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:1XGgW6dkdykfwsFbzqOpPW" data-name="Thirty Pounds of Bone">Thirty Pounds of Bone</a> and others. His lyrical, narrative songs bear the influence of the fields of County Cork and the old streets of Berlin. Images of persecution abound, songs of urgent travel and a search for home - the unifying theme is that of grave drama within ‘The Great Park’.
