Cleveland vocal group the Hesitations specialized in soulful treatments of blatantly pop melodies, epitomized by their biggest R&B smash, a stirring 1968 rendering of the theme from the movie Born Free. Although their initial bow on the R&B charts in 1967 was titled "Soul Superman," the Hesitations were best known for items like "The Impossible Dream" and "Who Will Answer," hardly typical soul fare.
