The History Of Apple Pie

When Stephanie Min and Jerome Watson began making bedroom demos and posting them onto a MySpace page, they never anticipated garnering the kind of reaction that would force them to take things into the outside world. But once they began receiving interest from management and labels, it only seemed right for the London duo to recruit James Thomas (drums), Kelly Owens (bass, backing vocals), and Aslam Ghauri (guitar) through a mixture of online advertisements and friends. Influenced by shoegaze and indie rock from the late '80s and early '90s, the History of Apple Pie's debut single, "You're So Cool," created a suitable buzz around them in 2011 and led to support slots with the likes of Male Bonding, Yuck, and Graham Coxon, who chose the band from hundreds of acts who applied to open for him at a London show in 2012. But it wasn't until 2013 -- two years after "You're So Cool" -- that the band prepared to release its highly anticipated debut album, Out of View, on Marshall Teller. The group returned in 2014 with a new bass player, Joanna Curwood, and a new, slightly poppier album, Feel Something. ~ Daniel Clancy, Rovi
