The Illusory Self feature elements of death metal, black metal, hardcore, deathcore, and metalcore, blended with ambient soundscapes to complete their sound. Their debut EP, 'Praise the Fantastic', was released on June 27th, 2018. 'Praise The Fantastic' was exclusively premiered by popular webzine Metal Injection and was featured on DeadRhetoric.com shortly after. Less than a year later, the band released their second EP, titled 'Dead Gods'. After receiving positive reviews on 'Dead Gods,' The Illusory Self released a new single titled "//FUMES//" on February 15th, 2020.
