The Masterminds believe in the magic of rock and roll! We seek to both inspire and entertain listeners with our music. All of our songs are written by singer/guitarist Tim English.
We are based in Asbury Park, New Jersey, where we record at Lakehouse Studios.
"Jangle Pop Hub" described our sound this way:
“Imagine the ‘50s pop melodies of Buddy Holly and then infuse it with the cool perfections of the early 2000’s indie-pop scene…and you have stumbled across the brilliant originality and beautiful simplicity of this New Jersey based act.”
We have been fortunate to have received strong support from college radio stations all over the U.S. including KALX in Berkeley and WTMD in Baltimore. Our song Flashback received extensive radio airplay following its release in the spring of 2020. It was followed by the singles Boomerang, Let Us Be Lovers, and in December, Don't Go.
Our third album, Orange Days, was released in January 2022 and includes Beautiful Thing, High, and Mesmerized.
Released in June 2023, the defiant Standing Our Ground was inspired by the brave Ukrainian people and was played on many college radio stations in the U.S. including WFUV in New York City.
2024 saw the release of the singles Lady Lie, the upbeat Rainbow Coming Down, and the darkly ruminative On My Mind.
Our new single, Falling Under Your Spell, was released on March 28, 2025.
