The Obvious Tells is a queer, political punk and d-beat band fronted by the Burlington, Vermont based, transgender singer and songwriter Jessica Amelia.
Inspired by political punk bands of the 80’s and 90’s, The Obvious Tells debut album PRESSURE was released in June of 2023, a surprise pride month release following a month of manic songwriting and recording after an attempt to “Make a Conflict or Aus-Rotten song, but queer” turned out to have legs. This was quickly followed up by PUSH COMES TO SHOVE and its harder attack in September.
Jessica performs all instrumentation and vocals on the release in addition to recording, drum programming and mastering.
PRESSURE has been describe as “Eight songs of trans d-beat that will melt your face!”, “the soundtrack to scare anybody who boycotted Bud Light in 2023” , “and “Very fun. Thank you.”
