Formed in 2016, The Proprietor is a black metal outfit helmed by Frank Fisicaro (guitars, bass) and Sean Gabler (vocals, guitar). The band began as a side project while they played in other bands in the New York City area but quickly became the main focus of its architects. The band is named after an ominous character played by Peter Cushing in the 1974 Amicus horror anthology, From Beyond The Grave. The Proprietor plays a strain of unapologetic and straight forward black metal, wearing their influences like patches on a old dirty denim jacket, invoking the second wave of Norwegian black metal and Swedish melodic death metal. They independently released their debut EP, From Nowhere and Worthless the same year, and followed up with a full length, For Nothing Is My Own, in 2017. They are currently working on new material for another EP entitled, Night Gaunts, set for release in the fall of 2018.
