The Americana/alt-country sound of Red Thread came about when Jason Lakis' last band, <a href="spotify:artist:0KpAWjfBuAfdgbBrnqlkmE">Half Film</a>, broke up in 2002. Six months of writing in isolation and Lakis had enough music for an album. With friends from various Bay Area bands -- including the Inspectors, whom with he had played percussion -- Lakis recorded Red Thread's debut, After the Last, released by Badman in early 2003. After a bunch of positive press, a national tour, and a couple new friends to add to the band, Red Thread returned with Tension Pins in 2004.
