The Royal Landscaping Society started in Seville (Spain) in 2012 as a solo project, then expanded into a full band and eventually shrunk again into a duo with Cris Romero (vocals, guitar, synths and machines) and David Vidal (bass, bass synth). Previous members include María Barrero (keyboards), Fran Torres (guitar) and Juan Luis Castro (guitar). With an obvious love for the breezier side of indiepop, the RLS’s “shimmery romantic pop” mixes crystalline guitars and primitive electronics. The story includes an eponymous debut mini-album (<a href="spotify:album:5K26zMWi6rgW0fzo3I7HWR" data-name="The Royal Landscaping Society">The Royal Landscaping Society</a>) on Beko Disques in 2014 and a series of compilation appearances on Little Treasure, La Souterraine, Cloudberry, Beko, February, Sunday, TBTCI and Vinyl i Parken as well as appearances at the Birmingham Popfest and Indietracks (UK), the Verbena Pop tour (Germany), Paris Popfest (France) and Indiefjord (Norway). The band is part of the Matinée Recordings roster since 2017, first appearing on the label’s Matinée Idols and The Official Matinée World Cup EP compilations. In 2022 Matinée compiled most of the band's previous output in 'Means of Production', and it wasn't until 2025 that new recordings were released in the 7” 'Fractals ep' .
