The Stoic - a jazz guitarist who originated from the city of Newark, NJ was influenced by pioneers of the "Golden Era"of Hip Hop music as a youth. The Stoic developed a passion for Hip-Hop music due to the genre's combination of jazz chord progression vamps over baseline groove with rhythmic spoken word cadences from poets that flowed over Rock and Roll beat breaks on turn tables samplers.
The Stoic incorporates the following musical instruments: electric/acoustic guitar, electric bass, and keyboard in the different styles and influences of Jazz, Blues, Heavy Metal, Funk, and R&B. As an artist, The Stoic later began writing lyrics to his music, which was highly influenced by his urban environment as well as the expression for his mother's memories. The Stoic's Jazz influences are: Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Return to Forever, Mahavishu Orchestra, Weather Report.
