G-Clef da Mad Komposa is a pioneering composer, producer, arranger, emcee, saxophonist, and vocalist from Queens, NY—widely credited as the first innovator of Jazz/Hip-Hop fusion. In the early ’90s, he broke new ground with Ghetto Philharmonic, laying live jazz instrumentation over raw hip-hop beats before the genre had a name. This bold experimentation predated the jazz-rap wave and helped ignite a sonic revolution.
Affiliated with Wu-Tang through his crew Soul Kid Klik, G-Clef went on to build Chambermusik Records, an influential label known for unearthing underground gems and championing independent artistry. He later coined the genre Ghetto Swing—a hard-grooving blend of rap lyricism, jazz orchestration, and funk-infused rhythms—heard in projects like The Yalloppin’ Hounds, Rayzd, and Xavier & Logan.
A boundary-pushing visionary rooted in tradition but driven by innovation, G-Clef da Mad Komposa continues to blur lines between hip-hop, jazz, and alternative soundscapes.
