With a signature raw and energetic live experience, The Strands fuse post punk rhythms and attitude with indie rock charm to achieve their ever-changing unique sound. Hailing from Sunderland, The Strands are formed around 2 brothers and their friends. Led by frontman Dean Herron, supported by Carl Herron (Guitar) Peter Kinmond (Bass) and Kyle McCalum (Guitar), the band’s material is a generous helping of hard-hitting, fast-paced alternative rock, drawing inspiration from artists like The Hives, Iggy Pop, The Strokes and Arctic Monkeys.
Emerging onto the Newcastle music scene with brazen singles, ‘Made of Art’ and ‘Happy’ , The Strands caught immediate intrigue of top grassroots venue promoters and regional/national radio, securing an interview/session on talkRADIO and airplay on BBC Introducing and Amazing Radio whilst also securing a spot on Youtube Official Music playlist, ‘New Alternative Indie’ and numerous support shows as as appearing on the lineup for This is Tomorrow Festival.
After release of their latest bold and biting single ‘Ed Sullivan’ earlier in 2023, which received extensive plays across various BBC Introducing regions as well as finding airtime on BBC Radio 1, The Strands performed a string of live shows across the North East of England. Following on from this, and aiming to top the previous release, the Strands are set to release what is shaping up to be their most iconic and aggressive song to date ‘Mambo Loco’ on the 10th of November 2023.
