The Swear is dirty rock, led by vocalist/guitarist/songwriter Elizabeth Elkins. Pulling from a punk rock past and years of writing for Music Row artists, Elkins calls on her longtime bandmates Kevin Williams (bass) and Kent Aberle (drums) to snarl and twist through songs that can only be described as the New York Dolls on an all-night Leonard Cohen bender, with hints of Hum and the Damned. The songs are cynical and defiant, mocking the race for love and fame that haunts their hometown of Atlanta – and Elkins’ adopted temporary digs, Nashville. Behind the buzzing humbuckers and chaotic lyrics, you’ll find songs as disciplined as they are reactionary, held tightly together by Williams’ prog-punk riffs and Aberle’s disobedient swagger. Songs from the band have been used on more than 50 television programs and films. The Warped Tour veterans have toured America from LA’s The Whisky to SXSW, Lower East Side dives to Music Midtown.
