An all-girl alt-country group from Austin, Texas, the Trishas (Savannah Welch, Liz Foster, Kelley Mickwee, and Jamie Wilson) first performed together as a one-off act as part of a MusicFest tribute to Kevin Welch (Savannah's father) in Steamboat, Colorado in 2009. Encouraged by the reception they received, they officially joined forces. All four had been around the block in the music business, though: Mickwee, a mandolinist, had been a part of the duo Jed & Kelly; Wilson had been a member of the Gougers, a popular Austin-area band; Foster, a skilled harmonica player, was part of the duo Liz & Lincoln and had spent years touring as part of a Motown revue; and Welch, although she primarily pursued acting, had grown up singing with her father and brother. An EP, They Call Us the Trishas, appeared in 2010, followed by a full-length debut, High, Wide and Handsome, produced by Mike Poole, in 2012. ~ Steve Leggett, Rovi
