Oglala Lakota || Red Shirt Table || Tatanka Nunpa
We are cousins who write, record, mix, and produce our own music. Reed Two Bulls is our vocalist/keys, Douglas Two Bulls is our guitarist/lyricist, and Micheal Two Bulls is our drummer. Micheal and Douglas play bass, and all three of us play keys during recording. We are based out of Mni Luzihan in so-called South Dakota, while our tiospaye hails from Red Shirt Table on the Pine Ridge Reservation. Our self titled album was originally released exclusively on Bandcamp in 2021, a culmination of songs over the years spanning from 2015 to 2021. Originally, The Wake Singers was founded by Micheal and Douglas, having played music together since preteens in Rapid City. Reed joined recording sessions in August of 2015, officially joining the band shortly after. We began playing live shows in 2018-2019, all while recording an extensive series of demos. In 2020, we lived in one house, working often; playing livestream shows in the basement, continuing to record and prepare for the eventual album drop, and creating our art. Alongside the music, we are all visual artists. Our talents include creating murals, silk screen, cyanotype, sculpture, painting, drawing, jewelry making, and more. We work our visual arts and music production through our group, Pejuta Press. We function as family, cousins, and siblings. We hope you enjoy our creations. Pilamayaye, mitakuye oyasin 🦬🦬
