‘Organic electronic’ is the term that Texas native, Hector Carlos Ramirez, uses to describe the music he creates as Tocaio. At an early age, Ramirez showed deep rooted interest in music, finding inspiration by attending and organizing local shows in his hometown of Laredo, Texas. It wasn't until 2013, however, that Ramirez would find himself beginning to experiment with ambient and electronic music after relocating to Austin, Texas to attend film school at the University of Texas. Currently based in Los Angeles, California, Tocaio draws inspiration by experimenting with loop / effect pedals and synthesizers in his bedroom studio. "The music is a soothing and wonderfully ambient affair incorporating field recordings of crackling fires, delicate beats along with live instrumentation. In parts, it sounds like Vangelis with a soul."
2017 saw the release of Tocaio's debut LP, "Pointillism" on Noise Revolt Records. The debut LP contains 13 unique and eclectic tracks Ramirez refers to as "13 separate soundscapes." Known for incorporating live instruments into his live performances, Tocaio takes a different approach to creating and performing electronic music and ultimately, attempts to bridge the gap between electronic producers and rock bands.
