Based in Brooklyn, New York, Tod Lippy released his debut album, Here We Are, produced by Kramer, in 2019. Its first single, “Good Start,” premiered on KCRW as a “Today’s Top Tune” pick that September. Lippy’s second album, Yearbook, came out the following year, and its track “Appian Way” was featured in the soundtrack for a short film the photographer Tina Barney made for Vogue featuring actor Austin Butler. Both a 6-song EP, Midterms, and Closer Than They Appear, an album of covers of songs by Low, Lucinda Williams, Atlanta Rhythm Section, and others, were released in 2022. Lippy's 4th LP, The Present (May 2024) was recorded, mixed, and produced by Bryce Goggin (Pavement, Phish). Lippy is also a designer, author, artist, and the creator of the award-winning nonprofit arts publication Esopus, which The New York Times declared, “...a thing of lavish, eccentric beauty, less flipped through than stared at.” In every issue, Lippy curated a themed audio compilation with new songs he commissioned from hundreds of musical acts such as Kimya Dawson, Grizzly Bear, Jens Lekman, Dirty Projectors, dj/rupture, Devendra Banhart, and Cassandra Jenkins.
