Tolyqyn is a Berlin-based alternative rock band founded by Roland Satterwhite (<a href="spotify:artist:41QiBkzJuF4oP7A0GH7IH0" data-name="Moka Efti Orchestra">Moka Efti Orchestra</a>) featuring his invented "plucked viola" style. The band is defiantly cross-genre exploring psychedelic rock, jazz, West African high life groove and the political lyrical tradition of american folk music.
Their self-titled debut was released in 2020 to critical acclaim, garnering praise across German radio and press, web blogs and led to their national TV debut on German national TV.
Following the release of its debut, the band has toured extensively across festivals and stages in Germany, Switzerland, Netherlands and Denmark including International Music Meeting, (NL) Tollwood (DE), Traumzeit (DE) and Copenhagen Jazz Fest (Roots & Jazz). The band's second album, "Silver Seed" is due for streaming release 20.10.23, and will be supported by an album release show in Berlin at Maschinenhaus on 8.11.23.
