Tom Donald

Tom Donald is an Australian, London-based pianist and composer, who is celebrated for his captivating piano pieces. Many know him for his memorable Ealing <a href="spotify:track:0Vn7scBJClgwWdghhOFW64" data-name="Concert Improvisation (Live)">Concert Improvisation (Live)</a>, which has been likened to the work of the great <a href="spotify:artist:0F3Aew9DSd6fb6192K1K0Y" data-name="Keith Jarrett">Keith Jarrett</a>. One of his standout performances was at the London Shard, which became a talking point as Europe&#39;s highest concert.

Tom is the founder of the London Contemporary School of Piano. As a film composer, he&#39;s composed music for films like &#34;Leaving Baghdad&#34;, &#34;Sta Per Piovere&#34;, and &#34;Tangled up in Blue&#34;.

Tom&#39;s recent work, set to release on November 22nd, showcases his daring music spirit. About fifteen years ago, he stumbled upon a Gregorian Chant vinyl in a record shop. This inspired him to mix it with jazz piano improvisation, creating a fresh sound. Wanting to share this blend with others, Tom visited Pluscarden Abbey in Scotland, where Benedictine Monks have chanted in Latin since the 6th century. After some discussions, Tom collaborated with the <a href="spotify:artist:3DHSBpyTZidH2tJhk8ZsXJ" data-name="The Monks of Pluscarden Abbey">The Monks of Pluscarden Abbey</a> for a live recording in their ancient space for the album Pax Aeterna.
