Defined by Rolling Stone France as “the new wave of Swedish disco” , Stockholm duo Tomode is returning on October 10 with 'Habitual Leaver,' a raw, alt-pop anthem about giving in to Imposter Syndrome. The single marks a new phase for the duo, teaming up with producer Pierre Riddez (Amason, Miike Snow, Tussilago) to push their sound into more psychedelic, unpolished territory.
Formed after years of friendship, choir rehearsals, and a pivotal stint in Tokyo, Tomode has carved out a unique niche where Swedish melancholy collides with disco euphoria. Their music has been described as “the bastard child of Erasure and Chaka Khan,” and in France, critics likened them to Phoenix and the French Touch wave - comparisons that quickly took the project international.
With two acclaimed EPs (Synergy, 2021, Riviera, 2023) and last year’s debut album Existential Disco, the duo has built a reputation as one of the most exciting live acts out of Sweden. Their sold-out vinyl run and European tour included stops at Berghain, Paradiso, and Café de la Danse, alongside festival slots at Primavera Sound and Popaganda.
Habitual Leaver continues that trajectory: a gritty confessional disguised as a pop anthem, cementing Tomode’s place at the forefront of the new international pop wave.
