BowAsWell

‘BowAsWell’ is the recording project of producer, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Yichi Zhang. Born & raised in Mainz, Germany, Yichi grew up listening to R&B and Hiphop from his sister’s iPod, and started playing guitar and writing songs in his bedroom after returning to China. He studied experimental art at Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, but soon discovered that his passion lay in music. Under the influence of musicians like Mac Demarco, Bibio and Tame Impala, he fell in love with this DIY aesthetics, bought some analog synths/hardwares, built his own home studio, and started making music under the name ‘BowAsWell’ in 2018.

BowAsWell’s music is based on catchy songwritings and melodic vocals, the songs try to evoke simple emotions, while packaged with catchy guitar parts, groovy bass lines and warm synths. Yichi draws inspiration from a wide variety of music: from 70s library music all the way to Disco and Synth pop. His upcoming EP ‘Oskoloskos’, which consists four of his new tracks made while traveling around the world, will be released under French label Delicieuse Records.
