Tongue is an indie rock band formed in 1992 in Syracuse, NY. Inspired by noise pop, garage rock and shoegaze, Tongue spent their brief 2 years playing local venues and basement shows, and opened for bands like New Radiant Storm Kings, Archers of Loaf, the Wallmen, and Bim Skala Bim.

They released two vinyl 7” singles in 1993-4. The first 7” (“That Ceiling" b/w “Dunebuggy") recorded at Screaming Skull Studios in Syracuse in 1993, self-published on their Mason Ring Records label. The 2nd 7” single ( “Opaque”/“Shed” b/w “Here Before”) recorded at Sweetfish Studios, was produced and recorded by Dave Fridmann, and released on Orgasm Records in 1994.

26 years later, in October 2020, the 7” singles and the remainder of the recordings from the Fridmann session were compiled and released as a full length CD and released on Jigsaw Records.

Tongue is: Deborah Warfield (vox), Gerry Beyer (guitar), Karl Myers (guitar), Matt Kipp (bass), and Michael Hoffman (drums).
