Since 2015, Glasgow-based electronic outfit Tongues have been capturing audiences with hook-laden, anthemic, and visually immersive live shows. Their music has topped the hype machine, been featured on Spotify's Discover playlists and played on radio worldwide. They have performed at numerous festivals throughout the UK including T in the Park and Beat Herder. Drawing on electronic, alternative and synth-pop influences, their music has been compared to Alt-J, Hot Chip, MGMT and Caribou.
Tim Kwant’s solo project ‘Tongues.’ was born from demos pieced together during an 8 month round-the-world trip. Tongues. debut ‘Colours In The Dark,’ was accidentally left public on Soundcloud. A few days later the track had amassed thousands of plays as the blogosphere helped cause quite a stir for the unassuming artist. Kwant gathered together a band comprised of Andrew Stride (keys), Matt Spicer (guitars) and Pete Murch (drums) and they quickly started perfecting their live sound. Bold synths, deep subs and soaring vocoders are ever present in a sound that seeks to take the listener on a dynamic journey ranging from grungy riff-driven synthrock to sweet heartfelt refrains.
Tongues have been working hard to translate their immersive live experience into fresh new material and are pleased to announce that 2018 will see the release of 3 EPs.
