Tonik Ensemble is the electronic output of Icelander Anton Kaldal Ágústsson. Exploring the vast expanse of the electronic spectrum the soundscape is a mix of electronics and the more organic live instruments. It is a strong signature sound of contrasts: rich and stripped bare, minimalist but intricate, finely crafted and yet very instinctive. Tonik Ensemble expands the methods developed on ‘Snapshots’ and crafts a distinctive palette of electronics at the counterpoint of sound and sight. Through synaesthesia, theories of color, form and visual compositions are implemented into music resulting in layered visual soundscapes that akin to Jon Hopkins, Moderat or Tim Hecker.
