Tõnu Tubli is a drummer best known for his drumming for the world-conquering Trad.Attack!, winners of multiple music awards in Estonia. His solo project takes us to another dimension of the so-called one-man-orchestra. “ReWorks” is truly a personal cosmos, made of Tõnu’s musical connections and experience as a drummer mixed with his highly praised technical abilities. Contrary to the usual remixes made live with the help of a dj set, his electronically charged drum set remixes and slices samples throughout the live performance, making it a performance one must see in order to believe… “Reworks” is the first take on the idea of remixing different Estonian artists with his magical drums. The album features 4 reworks from artists like DuoRuut, Orelipoiss and Trad.Attack!. Tõnu manipulates the tunes with his touch of drum so that they morph into a totally different tune, often drifting to a more lo-fi or club-like vibe. More exciting is the fact that his small drum set controls not only the music, but also the lights…“It all started almost three years ago, when I received these drum triggers by Sunhouse Inc., whichI could train to recognise my personal touch on the drums. Be it how hard I hit, how fast or where I hit the drum, it reacts. I can map it to have multiple samples and they also can blend and basically be whatever I would like. This is like magic and science together. It kind of took my understanding of drums to a whole other level.
