Tooth

Tooth is a project started with one dynamic mic and one dream of creating meaning from a meaningless world.
Tooth blends together lyrics of Existential Dread, angst, muted tones of ironic detachment, and a wide ranging color palette of instrumental tones, whose influences range from Synth Rock and Psych to American Surf.

Tooth began as a cathartic artistic response to the mundane horrors of a meat department in a grocery store. This environment of existential dread spawned Tooth's first EP, Stay Hungry, which was multitracked in Audacity with 1 SM57 in Gucinski's childhood bedroom.

It slowly grew into a low level phenomena when Gucinski took this solo project to college with him to SUNY Fredonia, the most Ohio-coded western tip of New York State. At that time SUNY Fredonia boasted a colorful rock and DIY house show scene.

It was there that Gucinski met Miles Pierce, bassist, artistic collaborator and one-of-a-kind improviser, and Matt Kowalski, Tooth's original drummer. when Kowalski graduated, Ben Hellert (drummer and percussionist extraordinaire) took his place.

2019 was a busy year of output for Tooth, with the slightly improved recording quality afforded by a larger master bedroom off campus. This house doubled as a rehearsal space for many walks of musical life.

Since moving to New York City, Gucinski has settled in Brooklyn and has come out of musical hibernation.
