The New Jersey indie rock outfit Tourmaline features Matt Rauch (vocals/guitar), Ryan Baredes (guitar), Andrew Koes (bass), Max Rauch (drums), and Corey Zaloom (piano/vocals). The polished poppy five-piece formed in 2004. Within a year, they signed to No Milk Records and began recording their debut album with producer Chris Badami (the Starting Line, Early November, Midtown). Prior to recording a proper full-length album, Tourmaline had toured with bands such as Punchline, Head Automatica, the Beautiful Mistake, and Name Taken. Their song "Blank" was also featured on the 2005 Drive-Thru Records and Purevolume.com compilation. Tourmaline's debut album, Strange Distress Calls, followed later that summer. ~ MacKenzie Wilson, Rovi
