Utstøtt is an Epic Black Metal project with roots bound to the forests and rivers of Oregon. Musically, the writing draws foremost from the dour, raw, and dark sound of the second wave black metal movement in Scandinavia, while also anointing each track with panoramic atmosphere in the form of ambient, synth-driven interludes and backdrops.

Without a formally named figurehead for the project, Utstøtt is centered solely on the music itself, looking to promote a sense of contemplative isolation, and allow listeners to muse on death, mythology, and grand, untamed nature through the sounds created alone.
