Norwegian folk-pop-jazz artist Vaarin has since her stellar debut with the nostalgic jazz album "Even If I Started Seeing Rainbows" in 2018 released several EPs and in total she has streamed over 2 million. Vaarin says that she is strongly inspired by clear female voices such as Kate Bush, Édith Piaf, Björk, Radka Toneff and Joanna Newsom.
Vaarin was A-listed on national radio with her hit "Lovers In Memory" and has played concerts both as a headliner and as support for other fellow Norwegians such as AURORA, Bel Canto, Darling West, Valkyrien Allstars and Fay Wildhagen. She played at the Norwegian Embassy in Berlin in 2020 and for the Norwegian prime minister at NHO's annual conference in Oslo Spektrum 2019. Vaarin is particularly recognized for being one of the few to receive a dice roll of 6 by the credible journalist Geir Rakvaag on her debut album.
The second album "The Identity of Belonging" came out in May 2023 and with it also music videos that are placed on a completely separate planet. Costume designer Daniel Steien has crocheted clothes specially made for each song. The album received good reviews, especially by Ballade who referred to the record as our time's "Fairytales" by Radka Toneff, and Vaarin has been referred to as Norway's answer to both Tori Amos and Agnes Obel.
