With a name inspired by a fictitious street gang from an episode of Seinfeld, Van Buren Records is a 13-member collective from Brockton, Massachusetts--New England's sole black-majority city--who broke out on the scene in 2021 with the release of their well-received debut album Bad for Press , hailed as one of NPR's favorite albums of 2021 and follow-up EP BLACK WALL STREET , which included the notable singles " CASH RULES " & “CULT” (feat. Jazz Cartier). In 2022, nearly every member of the group released a project, and with that musical exploration came a new sense of individuality that's highlighted in their new album. Not only is VB bringing their Brockton flair nationwide, but they're also at the focal point of the notable hip-hop resurgence Massachusetts has experienced in the past few years.
