An atmospheric black metal outfit with roots in New Mexico and New York, Vanum was founded in 2014 by Kyle Morgan (<a href="spotify:artist:25JPLaFCsTxc6I6yMXk3b6">Ash Borer</a>) and Michael Rekevics. Combining elements of icy, Scandinavian-style black metal, muscular traditional metal, and majestic symphonic metal, the band issued their debut album, Realm of Sacrifice, in 2015. An EP, Burning Arrow, appeared two years later, followed in 2019 by the sharply focused and dynamic Ageless Fire. The group's first outing for <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Profound+Lore+Records%22">Profound Lore Records</a>, the LP marked the studio debuts of long-term live members Luke Sheppard and E. Priesner. 2022 saw the release of Vanum's third full-length outing, the morose and melancholic Legend, which evoked the primal black metal stylings of bands like <a href="spotify:artist:6rBvjnvdsRxFRSrq1StGOM">Bathory</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:2mVTkiwfm4ic6DnHpmFq8K">Immortal</a>. ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi
