Varsha Thapa

Born and brought up in Kathmandu Nepal, Varsha developed her love for music at a young age as she listened and sang along to Classical Nepali and Indian music her parents played on the radio, which only grew further when she moved to India to pursue her education. Having faced a lot of bullying in boarding school, Varsha turned to writing to cope with feelings of sadness and loneliness which quickly turned into a book of dark yet self motivating poetry. As her interest in writing grew, adding melodies and turning words into melodic songs happened as naturally as joining the school choir, all of which gave her a sense of direction and purpose .
Now based in New York, inspired by the music of both east and west, she experiments and dissolves boundaries between the two worlds and creates a sound unique to her own voice. Her vocals flow harmoniously with her storytelling which explores themes of self love, family, loss, intimacy and transcendence.
Varsha released her first single Maaya along with EP Adhuro in 2020. Her recent EP Damaged Planet released on September 2024.
