New album, «Barndomsvenn», out February 7, 2025!
«Barndomsvenn» is Vidar Vang’s 15th album since his Arctic, home town debut in 1998.
The songs on «Barndomsvenn» revolve around transitions. They speak of changes, both inevitable and coincidental. Of a hometown that evolves – and the people who evolve with it. Of friendships that transform – sometimes for the better, and sometimes not. Of our children who grow – and our roles with them. Of love relationships that shift. Of attempts to change mindsets. Of the desire to continue growing and evolving in adulthood. The songs range from explosive rock, via epic, silver screen music to close up ballads.
In 2022 Vidar Vang & Bandet released their eponymous double album to rave reviews - with singles «Livet gir, livet tar» and «Meir & mindre» playlisted on heavy rotation on Norwegian radio stations NRK P1 and P13.
Northern Norwegian songwriter and artist Vidar Vang began to write songs in his early teens in Bjerkvik, a small town above the Arctic Circle in Norway. He released his unofficial, acoustic debut album «Blue» in 1998.
In 2000 he moved to Oslo, and signed his first major label deal with EMI. His Norwegian Grammy-nominated official debut album, «Rodeo» was released in 2002.
Vidar Vang released six albums in English, before switching to his native language with «Vårres egen lille krig» in 2015. Norwegian newspaper VG then labelled him «A songwriter in his own class».
