Vinsta

Vinsta started as a solo project by Christian Höll. In 2014, a demo album using mainly acoustic instruments was released, which already outlined the project’s typical experimentation with traditional Austrian folklore elements and which aimed to capture the mystical atmosphere of the Austrian nature with music. “Vinsta Wiads” (2017) was the first release via Trollmusic. It is perhaps best described as Progressive Death Metal, but also provided a lot of elements from Austrian folklore and lyrics in the band’s local Austrian dialect, thus laying the groundwork for their characteristic sound aptly named “Alpine Metal”. Two years later, Vinsta released its next studio album “Drei Deita” (2019), showcasing an even more refined and cohesive sound. Up until that time, Vinsta was still purely a studio project. Following the release, however, a live band was been put together with gigs lined up from March 2020 onwards. As the pandemic hit and many live concerts had to be cancelled, Christian Höll decided to turn his creative endeavours inward and started to write and produce the next album “Freiweitn”.
