Violent Playground is a Filipino post-punk band formed in the late 1980s, emerging from the southern suburbs of Manila with a sound that was raw, defiant, and decades ahead of its time. Drawing inspiration from bands like The Clash, Gang of Four, and the sharper edges of punk and new wave, VP carved out a sonic identity built on jagged guitars, urgent rhythms, and politically conscious lyrics that captured the unrest and energy of their generation.

Born out of bedrooms, garages, and makeshift rehearsal spaces in Alabang Hills, the band became part of the small but potent underground scene that pulsed beneath the surface of mainstream OPM. Their early gigs were loud, sweaty, and unforgettable—rallying cries for the misfits, the outcasts, and the restless.

After a long hiatus, Violent Playground has returned—older, louder, and more deliberate. Their latest recordings tap into the same spirit that fueled their early days, now sharpened by time and a deeper sense of purpose. Whether it’s on stage or in the studio, VP continues to deliver music that’s equal parts protest, poetry, and pulse.
