Wampi is the voice of his generation of young Cubans. Singer, songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist, and dynamic live performer, Wampi has been astonishing live crowds and dropping hits since releasing his first song at the age of 15. A graduate of Havana’s Paulita Concepcion music conservatory as a saxophonist, Wampi combined his classroom knowledge with his upbringing in the gritty Arroyo Naranjo neighborhood, quickly becoming the face of Reparto-a musical movement that fuses the slang and urban rhythms of the streets with traditional Cuban music.
After taking over the streets, clubs and living rooms of Cuba and Peru, where he has performed in stadiums, Wampi continues to be a trailblazer carrying the torch of the reparto movement. He’s already the first Reparto artist to be welcomed to the Recording Academy as a voting member. And has now, signed with Virgin Music Group. Just 22 years old, Wampi’s hits maleante, tóxica, la diferencia, clímax, pornostros, suéltate puty and orgullo have garnered over 100 million views on YouTube and millions of streams on Spotify. His new album, El Rey de La Habana will introduce reparto music to the world- while also creating broader fusions with salsa, funk, bachata, reggaeton and other genres in collaborations with many of today’s most respected Latin artists.
