Delivering a clever and bracing brand of indie rock full of wit, energy, and arty left turns, Weaves formed in Toronto in 2013. Featuring Jasmyn Burke on lead vocals, Morgan Waters on guitar, Zach Bines on bass, and Spencer Cole on drums, the band began when Burke performed solo using a looping sampler. Waters saw her set, and the two quickly began collaborating. They soon brought on Bines and Cole to round out the lineup and started making waves in the Toronto scene. Early singles “Hulahoop,” “Motorcycle,” and “Take a Dip” led to their debut EP in 2014.
In 2016, Weaves released their self-titled debut album through Buzz Records (Canada) and Kanine Records (US), earning international acclaim and praise for Burke’s dynamic live presence. Their follow-up, *Wide Open*, dropped in 2017 and solidified their reputation for artful, genre-bending indie rock.
