Welcome to the 21st!

Welcome to the 21st! is a Dallas/UK based songwriting collective consisting of Bob Blumenfeld (Guitars, TX) and Touanda (Vocals, UK) and other vocalists, with John Dufilho (Dallas, TX) contributing as drummer/ instrumentalist and producer. The band has three releases: Neon Apologies (2024), Coffee (2023), and Dyatlov Pass (2022) - with more to follow.

"Neon Apologies" is a 2024 retro-futuristic synthwave indie pop exploration of a little-known chapter from World War II with a UFO twist, told through the lens of 1980s nostalgia.

Welcome to the 21st!’s 2023 release, Coffee, is a folk and guitar-driven indie rock album dedicated to, yes, coffee, brewing, blending, drinking, enjoying and loving. The first single, “Gold,” is the second track – a song about how coffee is, at least to the many of those who love it and the corporations who sell it – as good as gold. Each of the five tracks on Coffee fall into the same cup, so to speak, with the lead track, “Happiness Greets Me” expressing a joyful sunrise with that first cup of joe that greets you, with Touanda joined by Josh Bowale and the Lux Choir, and then indie legend Ken Stringfellow joining in on background vocals and synths.

Welcome to the 21st!’s first release, Dyatlov Pass, is a 2022 indie rock/pop 8-song concept album about the mystery of Dyatlov Pass, an incident where nine young Soviet trekkers died in the Ural Mountains in early February 1959, in uncertain circumstances.
