Wendy Kimani stands as one of Kenya’s brightest Afro soul and Pop sensations, seamlessly fusing urban Swahili with English and a rich neo-soul vibe. On August 13, 2013, she released her debut album MY ESSENCE at the iconic Serena Hotel, in Nairobi Kenya.
The following year, she ignited the scene with the single Haiwi Haiwi, featuring Sauti Sol’s Bienaime, and later in 2014, she dropped Chali, a track dripping with an old-school, jazzy charm. In early April 2015, Wendy teamed up with Gilad Millo—an Israeli former deputy ambassador based in Kenya for the hit Unajua (Do You Know). This soulful exploration of love lost and rediscovered quickly became a fan favorite, amassing 11 million YouTube views and dominating airwaves across Kenya. Their creative spark led to another collaboration, Usiende, filmed in the vibrant city of Amsterdam in October 2016.
After a brief pause, Wendy re-emerged in 2020 with Pagawisha, a heartfelt anthem about reigniting passion and the thrill of falling in love all over again. Her journey continued with the release of her Afro-house single Ile Love (Same ol’ Love) on February 26, 2021.
Now, the future looks even more electrifying, Wendy is in the studio, hard at work on fresh Afro neo-soul tracks set to drop in 2025. With "Sisemi" and "Just for you" as her latest releases on 22nd Apr 2025 and Dec 2nd 2025. Keep your ears open; this next chapter is poised to redefine the sound of contemporary African music.
