Westway - Stadium sized rock music from Helsinki, Finland.

On January 31st, Westway released the title track Helsinki Syndrome from their upcoming EP. The forward driving, riff-led single with its frenetic momentum showcases the essential elements at Westway’s core - the dynamic energy of rock and contagious melodies ready to be sung along to. The song also introduces a concept through which the songs on the EP come together as a whole.

“Helsinki Syndrome, for me, is the most painful form of the duality of my relationship with my home and where I’m from - the battle between staying and leaving. It’s the most violent version of the feeling of not belonging and the most hopeless version of longing for something else. It’s being lost where you navigate on memory. It’s standing at the door of the house you grew up in but wanting to walk away. It’s the ever present rose colored glasses when thinking of every other place and possibility. It’s the relentless stretching of your soul in two different directions. It’s what I experienced upon my return home and what took me to dark places before I found a way for myself to define a new meaning in my circumstances.”

Helsinki Syndrome sets the scene for the beginning of this story which is told through six songs on the Helsinki Syndrome EP, released on 28.2. Westway will kickstart the spring and Helsinki Syndrome on Tour at Semifinal in Helsinki on 6.3.
