Whirlpool is a Turkish technical death metal band from Adana, Turkey was founded in 2016 by Koray Bakırkolu. The band used classical and jazz music influenced compositions paired with extreme metal drumming.
The band's first release, Dimensional Aevum, presented their interest in philosophy, which Bakırkolu describes as being influenced by the works of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe,
His soloing and riffing style is influenced in a large part by neoclassical, baroque, jazz fusion, and psychedelic style, as can be seen with his extensive use of the harmonic minor scale, and use of legato techniques, string skipping, arpeggios, 8 finger tapping and sweep picking.
