The minimalist music of the Brno (CZ) based five-piece whyohwhy is based on an inventive approach to vocals as well as a collective effort to benefit the overall sound rather than its separate elements. The group meanders between countless genres and influences, the more dominant of which are slowcore and dream-pop. The decadent lyricism that deals with pitfalls of life in a patriarchal, late capitalist society, is underlined by natural and mythological motifs. Two female vocals harmonically arch over an instrumental composed of a captivatingly straight-forward rhythm section that supports post-rock inspired electric guitar arrangements and a complex acoustic guitar with elements of classical music. The band confidently switches between austere passages and hypnotic, neurotic bass and unusual rhythms defined moments, creating a musical experience that tightly holds on to the listener until the very last note
