Wild Bells is an indie rock collective led by singer/songwriter Pete Ficht. Formed in Portland in 2011, they were known for their melodic guitar rock songs and quirky & literate lyrics,. They released a self-titled album in 2013, and the 4-song May Pang EP in 2015.
Formed by Ficht (vocals, guitar), Scott Pettitt (drums), and Craig Stahr (lead guitar), they released the single "Curtain Call" in 2012. They were soon joined by Sean Tichenor (vocals, bass) and Sean Farrell (keys). They recorded the Wild Bells album in 2013, funded by a successful Kickstarter campaign. Late in the sessions, Ellen Louise Osborn (vocals) joined. The album was recorded and produced by Tony Lash.
After a few lineup changes, Ficht, Pettitt, and Tichenor released the May Pang EP in 2015, with new members Rachel Coddington (vocals) and Jeff Porter (lead guitar). The album was recorded and produced by Daniel Riddle. Later in 2015, Ficht moved to Bend, OR, putting the band on indefinite hiatus.
Although Ficht wrote the majority of the material, strong writing contributions were also made by Osborn, Tichenor, and Farrell. Osborn sang lead vocals on Precious Time, Golden Boy, Still Summer, Wimbledon Bardot. Tichenor sang lead vocals on Lunchbox, Parasite, Still Summer, Shining On.
Pete Ficht 's career in New Orleans, Portland and Bend included stints with King Black Acid, House Levelers (with Grayson Capps), The State Flowers (with Corrina Repp), Noisecandy, Joy Pop Turbo, and AM Clouds.
