Good things take time, better things take a little longer. While most childhood bands eventually quit, Windup Space is a testament to what happens when a young garage band perseveres well into artistic maturity. Constantly pushing their energetic and cinematic blend of emo, prog and post-rock into new territory, the band displays a musical depth that can only be attained over the course of a 13-year existence, and an authenticity rooted in a stubborn refusal to conform to any ideas other than their own.

It was this very pursuit of creative depth that led them to isolate themselves in a recording studio deep in the dense forests of the Belgian Ardennes, only to emerge seventeen days later with their first full-length album under their belt. The album showcases the band at their bleakest. Apart from the deeply personal self-reflections Windup Space is known for, this album sees the band break new lyrical ground by looking outwards, drawing inspiration from the current state of the Western world, and pondering their place in it. This desperate existentialism is perhaps best encapsulated by lead single Black Summer, a relentless, prog-inspired tour de force in which Windup Space steps boldly into the unknown—and dares the listener to do the same.
