Emerging from the darkest recesses of the human soul and imbued with a deep melancholy, Winter Madness draws its influences from the Norwegian black metal scene of the 1990s. The quartet's music, cold and aggressive, blends the codes of traditional black metal with more contemporary elements, drawing as much from the violence of Dissection as from the sonic blizzard of Immolation.
The main theme of this project is the end of human existence, deemed too proud, too manipulative, and deserving only of punishment by the deities of the ancient worlds... In this musical epic, the divinities awaken and eradicate the human race, purging our planet and rebalancing the elements.
Matt Asselberghs (Nightmare), after composing the project's first tracks, surrounded himself with friends from different horizons of the French extreme metal scene (Catalyst, Fractal Universe). March 2025 will see the release of their first EP, "Frozen Grounds".
