Winternius

Winternius is a Black Rising Metal band founded in 2016 by Grinder, also known as Winternius during his time with Sacradis. The project initially included Eligor, another member of that same band. The original lineup featured Grinder on guitar, Eligor on drums, Azoth on bass, Antonio on vocals, and Noctambulant on guitar. In 2019, after several lineup changes, bassist John Killer Bob (formerly of Necrodeath ) joined the band, along with guitarist Alex Trivex. Around the same time, Jason Ülfe (former Sacradis guitarist) stepped in as the new lead vocalist. With this lineup, Winternius recorded their debut album Open the Portal at Nadir Studio, released in 2020 under the Black Tears label. A year later, during the pandemic, Grinder began working on new material. Shortly afterward, Eligor was forced to step away from the project due to health issues. The lineup was refreshed with the addition of SteHate on guitar and Lord of Fog on drums (ex-Sacradis, Spite Extreme Wing, ex-Abysmal Grief). With this formation, the band recorded the EP Kultra Nightmares, tracked by Regen Graves and mixed and mastered by John Killer Bob.
In 2023, Rancore (ex-LastRites) joined as the new bassist. In March 2024, Winternius recorded their second full-length album at El Fish Audio Factory. On April 2025, the band released their new single Gods of Hunger through the Dusktone label, as a preview of their upcoming full-length
album, set for release this fall.
